Hello Friends and Family! I am so excited to run the Chicago Half Marathon and support CASA of
Cook County. CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, and these volunteers support children in foster care by being their unbiased advocate in the court system. CASAs play an important role in placing them in a safe, loving home.
I have served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate in Cook County for one year and have seen first-hand the impact that advocacy can have on the trajectory of a child’s path through the child welfare system. With thousands of children in protective care and only so many CASA advocates, I am running to grow CASA’s volunteer network and increase the number of cases CASA is able to support.
