Hi all! I’ve chosen to run the Chicago Marathon for CASA this year because it is an organization that is very close to my heart! My Mom has been a CASA for about five years now, and during that time, I’ve been able to witness the immense impact CASA has on the lives of children in the foster care system. Often, a CASA volunteer is the only consistent adult who shows up for the child until they are permanently placed, as case workers and foster homes can switch often. I’ve personally seen my Mom help bring kids out of their shells and feel loved and safe. In an effort to support my Mom’s hard work and CASA as an organization in general, I wanted to push myself out of my comfort zone and run my first ever full marathon, raising money & awareness for this organization I care deeply about along the way. I grew up right outside of Chicago, and I couldn’t think of another city where I’d want to strive for this accomplishment!
