Bank of America CHICAGO MARATHON

Hannah Blue

I am running with Team CASA to bring awareness to the needs of foster youth and how we can all help support them. Foster youth exist in every community. In every city, church, and school I have been a part of I have met foster youth or foster families/advocates. Through each encounter I have learned about the seemingly overwhelming challenges for those in foster care and those supporting them. As a public school teacher I am committed to serving all students with compassion and kindness. It is my goal to model compassion and advocacy for them so that they may be empowered to advocate for themselves and others. I am inspired by the work of CASA who are able to do this with individual kids who need and deserve compassion, advocacy, and long term stability. During times of transition in my life, I have always found joy in running (finding new routes or people). Most recently, running has helped me find myself again after a long season of work stress and potty training a toddler with an infant at home. Through this marathon journey I can use my running to give back. It is my goal to use my training journey to inform and educate others on the work of CASA and to direct people to how they can support foster youth no matter which community they are a part of.
