Tonya and Megan
Tonya and Megan used to live in the foster care system, so they know how hard it can be. Despite the odds, the two sisters were able to persevere and become successful college graduates and adults. However, their two younger sisters are still in the system. Due to the younger sisters’ desire to graduate from their current high school, Tonya and Megan did not try to seek custody. But they still wanted to be able to mentor their sisters.
CASA Steps In
The younger sisters’ Advocate presented a plan to the court that allowed the older sisters weekly mentoring visits every Saturday.
The court agreed, and because of these weekly visits, the younger girls finished all of the paperwork needed for them to successfully apply to colleges. The oldest of the two begins her first semester of college this year.
